Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

What does HPLC analysis show for small-molecule research actives?

Reversed-phase HPLC resolves the compound of interest from impurities, synthetic by-products, and degradation products based on differences in polarity and column retention. The chromatographic purity result quantifies how much of the total detected UV-absorbing material corresponds to the primary analyte peak. Where a certified reference standard is available, retention-time matching supports confirmation that the primary peak is consistent with the declared compound's identity.

Are stability and degradation relevant for this class of compounds?

Yes — many small-molecule research actives are susceptible to oxidation, hydrolysis, or photodegradation. NAD+, NMN, and NR in particular are known to degrade under ambient or elevated-temperature conditions. ANALITIKA recommends that samples be kept refrigerated or frozen prior to submission, shipped in sealed vials, and protected from light where indicated. The COA describes the sample as received; storage history is outside ANALITIKA's analytical scope.

How should I prepare and submit a small-molecule sample?

Submit the compound as a dry powder in a sealed, clearly labeled vial with the compound name and lot reference noted. Hygroscopic materials should be sealed under dry or inert conditions if possible. Liquid samples are also accepted — provide the solvent identity and approximate concentration at the time of submission so the appropriate dilution and injection parameters can be applied.

Can HPLC confirm the specific form of a compound — for example, NMN versus NR?

In most cases, yes. NMN and NR are structurally distinct and exhibit different chromatographic retention times under standard reversed-phase conditions, allowing differentiation by retention time when reference standards are available. Similarly, free-acid versus salt forms of many compounds can often be distinguished based on chromatographic behavior. Where such differentiation is analytically significant, ANALITIKA will document the confirmed form in the COA.
